KURT SCHUETTE
Director of Philanthropy
-
Kurt Schuette has been involved with the Dedeaux family for decades. He first met Coach Dedeaux in 1973 when he was the designated Bat Boy for the UCSB Gauchos when they played USC in the deciding final game of the NCAAC Regionals. He reconnected with Coach Dedeaux in 1994 at USC where he served as the Golf Coach and Director of Golf for the men’s and women’s golf teams. During his 21-year tenure at USC, Kurt developed a profound connection to the Dedeaux family, one that would become both personal and professional for years to come.
Kurt’s curriculum vitae boasts numerous career and personal accomplishments including fundraising strategies, executive management, leadership efficiency, marketing tactics, business development, and corporate relations. Schuette started his career as a PGA Apprentice (1986-1988) in his hometown of Santa Barbara, CA and moved on to North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, the site of the 1988 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, hosted by USC. He was then hired as the Pepperdine Men's Head Golf Coach (1988-1994) where he went on to win four Conference Championships and elevated Pepperdine to become a Top 20 Nationally Ranked Program.
From Pepperdine, Schuette was hired by USC as the Men's Golf Head Coach (1994-1995), where USC was able to qualify for the NCAA Finals for the first time in five years and finished in 5th place. After this early success, Schuette was then promoted to Director of Men's and Women's Golf (1995-2012) then to Director of Golf, Facilities, and Development (2012-2015). In 2001, he created the Coaches Council that was generating between $500,000 - $1,000,000 annually. These funds were utilized to develop on and off campus playing and practice facilities, both on and off campus, for both the Men's and Women's golf teams.
In his new role as Executive Director, Kurt will be working alongside the Board of Directors and our administrative team. He will oversee day-to-day operations, identify strategies to boost our Foundation’s success, and will develop & implement strategies that are aimed at promoting our mission by actively working on direct fundraising initiatives.
